The Stanley Family
Melbourne Hall and cared for
on behalf of Lady Ralph Kerr.
They utilise the extra sheds at
Park for taking 300 pigs on B
& B in at 25kg and taking them
to 100KG. All go to Packington
Pork who supply M & S.
Something Ben is particularly
proud of is being one of the first
farms chosen by Sainsbury’s
for their new Pilot Trial eating
quality – where there is a real
drive to produce the tastiest
quality Angus beef.
Ever keen to both expand and
diversify and go forward from
from selling meat and sausages
from the farm gate, they opened
their Farm Shop at Melbourne
Hall Craft Centre in December
2014, moving their butchery to
its new base which is only one
mile from the fields where the
livestock roam. Their master
butchers freshly cut everything,
from ageing or fresh carcass to
the shop counters. All the beef,
pork and lamb is their own .They
are traditional butchers with a
modern twist, selling all cuts from
all species in order to cater for all
daily meat needs. The counters
are all open so you can see the
butchery process as it happens
and their butchers are only too
happy to provide customer’s
specific requirements
‘this couple have
a real passion for
where they are
with their business
and their lives’
Ben and Tori have worked
exceedingly hard and as Ben
told me: “You really need five
years to get a proper grip on a
new farm.”
With both farms there has
been a need for considerable
remedial work, walling, fencing,
shed improvements etc – all of
this along with everything else
has been a real labour of love.
But it is all now starting to pay
off as they now have a fully
functioning and diverse, quality
business.
Looking forward, Ben told
me: “Our plan really is to
consolidate what we have
got and grow the herds and
become as self -sufficient as
possible”.
They have no plans to
acquire any more farms. “We
will be at Park Farm until we
retire,” Ben said. That is a long
way off but in the meantime, it
is easy to see that this couple
have a real passion for where
they are with their business and
their lives, in their a genuine
wish to produce the finest
quality animals from a happy
environment.
We wish them every
success.
