He and his late wife, Ann came here and have four grown-up offspring – Carol, Mike, Yvonne and Julie. Ron is a grandfather several times over and a greatgrandfather twice-over. Ann sadly passed away three years ago and for Ron it was the most traumatic time of his life. Indeed, only now is he getting back on track. “I was a bit lost and everyone knows how much losing Ann knocked me. Since then, our daughter Carol and her partner who had a business of their own have come back to help me and we’re back underway.” Ron has recently found a new lease of life personally when six months ago he met Josie. “Josie and I are courting - to use that old-fashioned word,” he smiled. “I hope people understand that Josie isn’t taking Ann’s place. It’s a new life and Josie is helping me to move forward.” Ron is also very communityminded.
