Hendricks County Parks & Recreation is teaming up with Hendricks County Senior Services to bring FREE programs to the Senior Center in Danville !

Join our naturalists at the Senior Center in Danville , once a month at 12:30 pm , for a FREE nature-themed program !

These programs take place during lunch at the Senior Center , and donations are accepted for lunch . The Senior Center
Foxes , Coyotes , Wolves … Oh My ! January 24
Foxes , coyotes , and wolves are often mistaken for one another . During this program with a Hendricks County Park naturalist , you will learn distinctive features of each animal and how they are similar . Their habitats will be discussed , along with their diets .
On the Prowl for a Mate February 28
You thought Valentine ’ s Day was a holiday created by card companies to prey on human love ? The animal world has a different take : this is the time of year when they set aside their winter tasks of hunting and surviving the cold , and they begin to look for a partner . Come learn from a Hendricks County Park naturalist about animals in the wild that are also caught by Cupid ’ s arrows this month , as well as their mating rituals .

If you haven ’ t heard yet , next month is a unique opportunity in central Indiana ! On April 8 , Hendricks County will experience a solar eclipse in totality for the first time in more than 800 years ! A Hendricks County Park naturalist will explain the science behind the phenomena , activities around Central Indiana for this once-in-alifetime opportunity , and how to safely view the eclipse .

The night-time creatures are frequently forgotten because we just don ’ t see them as often . However , the mammals that are awake at night are important to our ecosystem too . Come learn from a Hendricks County naturalist about various nocturnal animals and how they are adapted for success when the sun goes down .
