Planning for Multiple Uses of Parks Saturday , Jan . 8 • 10 a . m . HCP & R Main Office • 955 E . Main Street , Danville
Teens , join Hendricks County Parks & Recreation staff as we explore what it ’ s like to work in a park office , different careers within the parks system , recommended education levels , and what it takes to be a parks superintendent . We also discuss how important multiple uses are in the park system .
Could parks and recreation be a career option for you ? This program is designed to provide a no-pressure look into parks and recreation careers for teenagers who are contemplating their futures after high school . The program lasts from 10 a . m . to 2 p . m . and participants will be provided lunch .
RECOMMENDED FOR TEENS • FEE : $ 8 / PERSON ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY JAN . 4 APPROXIMATE PROGRAM DURATION : 4 HOURS

We bring in a variety of expert guest speakers throughout the year to discuss various nature-related topics . Mark the following dates on your calendar for the first four months of 2022 , and then keep an eye on www . HendricksCountyParks . org and our Facebook page as the dates approach to learn which guest speakers and topics will be featured each month , along with where the presentation will be held . Pocket Monsters Hike Saturday , Jan . 15 • 10 a . m . W . S . Gibbs Memorial Park
Gotta catch ‘ em all ! If you are a new or veteran Pokémon trainer , come and take a guided hike in the Gibbs Safari zone and add to your Pokémon GO Pokedex ! Meet at the Turtle Crawl trail near the fishing dock .
Note : Pokémon GO App has a free app that you can download on many devices and use during this program . There is no internet service at Gibbs , however , so please make sure your app is loaded and ready to go before you arrive .
HIKING TERRAIN INFO : EASY LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY , GRAVEL AND NATURAL SURFACES , UP TO 1 MILE . RECOMMENDED FOR AGES 5 THROUGH ADULT . Winter Lantern Walk Saturday , Jan . 22 7 p . m . McCloud Nature Park
Winter is a time of low light , so let ’ s make the best of it with a lantern walk ! Bring a lantern from home and join the naturalists for a peaceful walk in the woods . See McCloud Nature Park in a different light – low light !
Please bring battery-operated lanterns or glow sticks . The trees and brush at McCloud do not get along well with candles and flames .
