Inclusive Hiring Training
Inclusive Hiring Training walks participants through a process of creating awareness , understanding , and application to interview individuals with an understanding and value for their different backgrounds and opinions . This training highlights the intersections of legal and illegal questions , bias , and our impressions of how a hiring process should work .
Multicultural Student Internship
Continuing with the College ’ s commitment to diversify our workforce , Talent & Culture funds three multicultural internship / training positions yearly . Interns are exposed to the internal and daily operations of a department , in hopes of pursuing full-time employment at the College upon graduation . Talent & Culture provides pay based upon hours worked , and covers all educational fees , tuition , and books not covered by other programs .
Individuals selected meet with College personnel to develop a specific training program . This program includes classes incorporated into a weekly work schedule . It could also include individual seminars , skill building activities , and individual training programs as the needs and desires of the individual dictate .
Strategic Hiring
In order for the College to maintain the status of “ destination employer ” in today ’ s market , NWTC must be strategic and pro-active to broaden the candidate pool , increasing both the quality and diversity of prospective candidates .
Student Today , Employee Tomorrow
This concept , first created in 2017 as “ Student Today , Instructor Tomorrow ,” was a means to provide opportunities to diverse students in terminal degree programs who demonstrated potential to be an instructor following attainment of occupational experience . This program is currently being analyzed and revamped as an inclusive “ Student Today , Employee Tomorrow ” program to highlight the multiple career pathways within student employment and to create interest in working at NWTC right out of graduation or in the near future .
