CREATING INCLUSION AND BELONGING IN THE WORKPLACE
Employee Involvement Groups
To provide another avenue for employee engagement , Employee Involvement Groups ( EIG ) were created in 2019 to aid in NWTC ’ s efforts to diversify the workforce by supporting the recruitment and retention goals tied to employee and student success .
EIGs are self-initiated , employee-led groups that focus on a common human characteristic ( such as race , ethnicity , generation , ability , gender , etc .). Groups are open to all employees who want to support the goals of the EIG .
They are :
• Voluntary , self-initiated , employee-led groups that foster a diverse , inclusive workplace
• Made up of individuals based on a common human characteristic ( such as gender , race / ethnicity , age , ability , sexual orientation , etc .)
• Aligned to and will support the college ’ s mission , values , and goals
• A way to develop a sense of community and collaboration
• Nurturers of new knowledge
• A way to foster innovation and build employees ’ skills
• Contributors to the overall success of the college
