Espinosa
Rosalinda is a senior Industrial & Systems
Engineering major at the University of
Oklahoma. Read more about her journey

I always knew I wanted to be the first in my
family to go to college. However, I once I have continuously kept my focus on
academics and leadership because despite
believed it would be near impossible
because of my family’s low-income and my
DACA status. I knew I would not receive my disadvantages , I am determined to be
the first in my family to graduate. I am
currently set to graduate in May with a B.S.
federal/state aid that I qualified for because
I wasn't a citizen, but I never let this stop in Industrial and Systems Engineering. I
knew I wanted to major in engineering when
me. Because of my hard work, I have
received various local and national awards
for my leadership and academics including I attended an engineering event in my senior
year of high school. Before that, I didn’t
know what engineering was because as a
Kappa Delta Chi Outstanding Undergraduate
Sister. I was even featured on the front page
of my local newspaper “The Oklahoman”! first generation immigrant, all my closest
family worked construction or manual labor
jobs. I had no role models in STEM.
