Psalm 139:14 says we are … fearfully and wonderfully made … [ Note: I prefer to use lovely instead of fearfully as fear is a negative connotation 😊 ]

Negative Self-Talk

What is negative self-talk?

It’ s the belittling of oneself, putting your own self down.
Why do people belittle themselves?
I believe it’ s due to lack of knowledge and is also part of society’ s standards. I hear people saying“ I’ m stupid,” noooo. If you say you are stupid, that’ s what you will get, stupid stuff in return.
I know a woman that would call her brother a fool. She didn’ t mean those words; however, he became a fool, he did foolish things. We not only have to make sure to overcome negative self-talk for ourselves, we also must be mindful of it from others.
This is why we need to gain the right knowledge and to live according to God’ s standards.
Psalm 139:14 says we are … fearfully and wonderfully made … [ Note: I prefer to use lovely instead of fearfully as fear is a negative connotation 😊 ]
Genesis 1:31 says … God saw that everything He had made, and it was very good.
Looking at these two versus, why would anyone say negative things about themselves?
I did this many years ago until I began to learn and gain the right knowledge. It’ s a given in society to put the self-down, however, we can unlearn and relearn to lift ourselves up.
Three quick points to help combat negative self-talk:
1) Think about what is good, etc. Philippians 4:8. 2) Remember what God made is good. 3) Create affirmations and say them daily.
Always check in with yourself and beware of negative self-talk.
It is possible to overcome negative self-talk! 20
