“ We got a call from the now-deceased family that claimed they found a child lost at sea . When we got inside , all we found were the skeletal remains of the girl ’ s parents , and it looked like a tidal wave hit the house . The strangest part is that some of the remains have teeth marks on ‘ em !”
Bill shook his balding head and heaved a sigh . His dark eyes lingered on Joseph for a moment before turning back to the crime scene . “ I gotta see this for myself .” When he approached the front step , a small puddle contaminated with black oil seeped into his work boots . He opened the door and saw that Joseph ’ s story was true . Water dripped from the ceiling , making the wood sag from the weight . The printed wallpaper had curled like rotting skin , giving Bill the intuitive feeling of a something worse than a homicide .
In one of the rooms , a team of investigators were taking photographs of the bloody remains and jotting down notes , trying to create a solid plot . Bill cringed ; the worst part of the job was finding people mutilated without cause . He trudged further into the house and surveyed the scene . There were enormous holes in the walls , damp and slick with the same oily substance he had found outside .
Without needing to further investigate the house , Bill left the scene and walked over to the ambulance . Joseph met him halfway . “ They don ’ t recommend we question her right now . She ’ s pretty out there . I don ’ t blame her .”
Bill nodded . “ No , I don ’ t plan on interrogating her right now . But maybe she can reveal some clue .” Continuing past Joseph , Bill waved to the two nurses who
