I don ’ t want to ask you too many questions , but maybe you could help us out just a little ? We want to catch the bad guy that did this to your family .”
“ Sir ,” one of the responders warned . “ She ’ s in shock and can ’ t speak . As we told the other officer —”
Nancy waved her hands , cutting both parties off . She reached under her sweater with a trembling hand and pulled out a soggy black book .
“ Did you write what happened ?” Bill questioned . He flipped through to the latest entry and furrowed his brow .
The girl felt blood rush into her lungs , and she submitted to the demon .
Kyla Stan has enjoyed creating fantasy stories since childhood . In fact , she has a notebook filled with old stories that are being updated for a modern young adult audience . Kyla hopes her writing will help other people with mental illness , such as anxiety and depression , and wants people to be aware of environmental issues , some of which are reflected in her dark mermaid novel titled Forbidden Tides and the first book of the Skin Walker Series , Poet Tongue . She has a degree in Communications and a master ’ s in English and Creative Writing . Kyla is an adjunct professor and teaches various levels of creative writing at Southern New Hampshire University .
