Once her hand found the knob , she pushed her weight against it and attempted to bust out the side panel windows , but everything remained intact . Anger overtook her fear and she slammed her body against it . She rushed toward one of the front windows and tried to break it but found the same resistance .
Her parents had realized their doom and huddled closer to her .
A thundering sound , the roaring of water unleashed , forced them to turn around .
A giant wave , just like the three of them dreamed , crashed over their shocked bodies .

Bill Sawyer drove his police car into Summerville , known for its impeccable streets and low crime rate . When the call came in about a flooded house and two dead bodies , he slammed on the gas of his cruiser . He whistled low and rubbed his mustache thoughtfully when he saw the sodden and strained figure of a young woman in the back of an ambulance looking completely petrified at everyone around her . Broken furniture was scattered along the front lawn , and the home was a rinsed shell sagging to the left .
Bill approached his partner , Joseph Crowley . “ What ’ s the story here ?”
Joseph , a skinny new recruit , was studying the scene with crossed arms and shrugged in disbelief .
