Weening Safety tips:
1. Feed everyone before
heading out and take some
treats with you to avoid
temptation.
2. Use non-toxic face paint,
avoid masks and heavy, over-
large costumes that will make
walking difficult.
3. Use reflective tape,
glowsticks and flashlights to
make sure everyone is seen.
4. Make sure your children
know how to cross roads
safely: cross on corners.
Make sure they stay on well-
lit sidewalks and only visit
homes that have their porch
lights on.
5. Warn your children of
dangers: do not go inside
anyone’s home or car for any
reason.
6. If you are not going with
them, give your child a cell
phone, know what routes they
are taking and have a plan for
when you are picking them
up. Do not let children go out
alone. Groups are safer.
7. Pay attention to your
driving too. Drop your speed
and be alert to kids darting
from between cars. Ignore
your electronic devices while
driving.
8. Check all candy before
letting your children eat it,
throw out all homemade
treats unless you know
the source, and remove all
makeup before going to bed.
Costumes!
There are all the favorites for
2017: Wonder Woman, Alice
in Wonderland, Beauty and
the Beast, Avengers, cats, bats,
witches, gypsies, vampires
and zombies. You can also
mix old with the new and
make a hybrid, or use a weird
wig to change a costume’s
look. If you are on the cheap,
Pinterest and plenty of
websites have ideas to use
what you have and make
something cute with little to
no money.
There’s a growing trend to
wear all one color (usually
an all-black outfit) and do a
spectacular makeup job on
all exposed skin. Sites like
totalbeauty.com, elleuk.com
and stayglam.com, along with
Pinterest have so many ideas,
you’ll lose a day of your life
perusing if you aren’t careful.
Include your pet (provided
they can behave in public
with all the action) and really
expand your weenie horizons
(no chocolate! POISONOUS for
dogs and cats!).
