By Amy Addams | Background Courtesy The Castle C’mon, make a costume out of a trash bag and some yarn, grab last year’s, get your cosplay out, or better still, make a vamp-witch- automaton by mixing a bunch of old ones together. Be whoever you want, or go as you are (wear a jacket, it’s chilly), and let’s get SCARED…. Let’s start with the Castle in the ‘Gee You knew this was coming, don’t act surprised. But, over the past few years, that big white building with all the incoming traffic has added new attractions for the hallowed weenie in us all. Having said that, we also wanted to alert you that some of the crazy-new attractions are not included in that all-in- for-one price. If you want to truly get in on the experience, it’s worth the money to buy a Fright Combo or Fun Pack (when you buy online, it appears you get an extra discount). One of the new attractions, the Dark Castle Zombie Hunt, is pretty dang scary (five skulls) and your experience will be enhanced if you bring friends. You are given a limited amount of ammo and you hunt zombies. That’s it? Well, if you’ve ever seen “Zombieland” you’ll know the value of the double-tap and calisthenics as well as having a buddy along to have your back (Twinkies are totally optional). There are new vendors for 2017 (and they have some fun Halloween decorations at the shops, so don’t run off without checking out what’s there) as well as The Celtic Hinge, where you can test your luck or try your nerve as you walk through the gateway into the scarier parts of the castle grounds. The Castle is open Fridays and Saturdays Sept. 29 through Oct. 28. Dress for cooler temps (at least bring a jacket), make sure you’ve had a decent meal before you go (they have snacks and drinks), and wear good walking shoes. Find out more about each attraction, times and prices by visiting okcastle.com. Buy your tickets and save some time (and money) at extremetix. com.
