Byrne
triumphs
in Brice
Bowl
A glorious day
weather-wise saw the
return of Rochester
& Cobham Park GC’s
annual men’s scratch
open for the Brice
Bowl.
A field of 40 took
part but the course
definitely had the final
say with only a couple
of players managing
to break par on the
day.
Daniel Byrne from
Dartford GC took first
place in the gross
competition with
scores of 70 and 69 for
a 36-hole total threeunder-par total of 139.
Scott Cullen (Kings
Hill) was a close
second on 141, and
was also the winner of
the nett competition.
Marcus Sewell and
Mark Matthews were
the highest placed
Rochester & Cobham
Park members,
finishing in third
place in the gross and
nett competitions
respectively.

BBC weather girl Kaddy Lee Preston with the other ladies who took part in
the women’s golf day the Marriott Tudor Park Hotel and Country Club
Here come the
girls at Tudor Park!
I
t was ladies’ day at the
Marriott Hotel and
Country Club when and
the sound of female laughter
could be heard across the
18-hole championship
course at Bearsted, near
Maidstone.
BBC Kent’s weather girl,
Kaddy Lee Preston, joined
16 women in a trial morning
to learn golf techniques with
the help of the Tudor Park
professional coaches.
The event had been
organisedby Founder of Fore
Women golf and Tudor Park
member, Felicity Dunderdale,
who said:
“Women think that golf is a
male dominated, elitist sport
that they can’t join but that’s
not true. And holding events
like this hopefully dispels that
myth.”she said.
Admitting to only having
done pitch and putt, Kaddy
Lee Preston said after her
morning’s golf skills training,:
“Golf is a lot harder than you
think, but much more fun
than you imagine. I really
enjoyed myself.”
Tudor Park plans to hold
more ladies’ only events as
part of its campaign to make
golf a `sport for all’.
