Five-Club Champs
Win Spanish Break
T
wo Kent golfers won a week’s
holiday in Spain after triumphing
in this year’s Cecil Leitch FiveClub Competition organised by the
Kent County Playing Fields Association.
The finals of the county-wide event took
place at Park Wood Golf Club, near
Westerham, in fine weather and with the
course in excellent condition.
The winner of the men’s competition
was Neil Stevens from Hever Castle GC
who scored a superb 44 points off his 23
handicap. Runner-up was 13-handicap
Hedley Sancto (Westgate & Birchington)
with 36, and in third place was another
23-handicapper, Karl Dimascio (The
Ridge) with 35.
The “Nearest the Pin” was won by
Andrew Ovenden (Littlestone Artisans)
and the “Longest Drive” was made by
David King (Knole Park).
In the ladies’ competition, first place
went to 24-handicap Pauline Weeks
(High Elms) with 35 points. Second was
20-handicap Denise Sandrey (Park Wood)
with 34 on countback from 20-handicap
Annabel Fuller (Broome Park).
The “Nearest the Pin” was won by Gail
Gardiner (Boughton) and the “Longest
Drive” was made by Nikki Brown of
Sittingbourne Golf Club. T
he prizes were presented by Park Wood
club captain Martin Forrest, and both the
winners were delighted to hear that they
had each won a week’s holiday at a luxury
villa situated on Guadalmina Golf Club in
Marbella.
