Cancer center receives donation
The Cancer Concern Coalition of Morgan , Muskingum & Perry Counties donated $ 1,000 to the Genesis Cancer Care Center toward the purchase of a Real Time Coach device used in radiation therapy . The device assists patients undergoing the Deep Inspiration Breath Hold technique , which reduces radiation exposure to the heart and vessels during breast and chest treatments .
“ We are grateful to the Cancer Concern Coalition of Morgan , Muskingum & Perry Counties for the generous donation to our radiation therapy program ,” said Pebbles Thornton , director at Genesis Cancer Palliative Medicine and Hospice Services . “ The Real Time Coach enables patients to participate in their own treatment , ease their positioning on the treatment table and help deliver an effective breath hold for accurate therapy .”
