Each spring the Ovation Day of Excellence celebrates student achievement , showcasing student success in research , scholarship , experiential learning , the arts and more through posters , videos , live presentations and performances . Participants must complete a submission process and have a faculty mentor who sponsors their work and gives approval to present .

After a combined 40 years with CHS , and 78 total in education , the husband-and-wife educators Floyd and Laura Klein will retire . Floyd , currently superintendent , has been with Coshocton City Schools for 25 years and has served in several administrative roles since 1959 . Laura is currently head of the English department and has served in that capacity for the past 15 years . Additionally , she has taught Latin and French as well as psychology .

Last year Highway Patrol Officer Gordon Jackson II , 1817 E . Adams St ., saved a man ’ s life and now the Boy Scouts are honoring him for it . Jackson received the Certificate of Merit from the Muskingum Valley League Council after being nominated by Scout Troop 402 . Jackson had pulled over two drivers when he received a call too regarding a motorist going off the road . The trooper found the driver in a diabetic coma , and himself being diabetic , administered a bottle of glucose he kept with him .

County track stars will be going to the state track meet following the Division II Regionals in North Canton . Coshocton will be sending junior Alicia Grier to compete in the 100-meter hurdles . River View will be sending on senior Megan Stevens to compete in the 800-meter run . Ridgewood ’ s Tiffany Little barely missed qualification in shotput .

The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is now hosting a new exhibit featuring works of Appalachia . Among the pieces are several by Dorothea M . Bluck , West Lafayette , who does multimedia pieces . Her works have been featured in a compendium book made by the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media titled “ Bridging Time and Space ,” which will be available at the museum during the exhibit . “ As you grow , you want to go beyond ordinary artwork . You put down ideas and emotions in your work ,” Bluck said .
WEDNESDAY , MAY 28 , 2014 “ I love helping younger students and being there for them . You become their friend and councilor ,” said Seraine Lewis . Lewis , who graduated this year from RVHS , has received the President ’ s Volunteer Service Award for her seven year-long work tutoring as part of the Tutoring , Learning , Contributing ( TLC ) Program . “ Most just do TLC in high school ,” said River View principal Chuck Rinkes ,” Seven years of commitment to it is something you just don ’ t see .”
