Coshocton City Schools brings books to neighborhoods By Marianne Austin

Coshocton City Schools helped launch a new program to bring books to neighborhoods through the Little Free Library organization .

“ We are super excited to be installing six free little libraries throughout the Coshocton community ,” Megan Crook from
Coshocton Elementary School said . “ They are installed here at Heritage Apartments , at the Meadows , Chestnut Crossing , the fire station across from the Himebaugh Lot , as well as the elementary and junior high . It ’ s take a book , give a book . We ’ re here to support literacy for the community . We will restock these little libraries as needed .
“ The books are a combination of donated and federal funding that has allowed us to buy some new books as well . If you see a book you like , you can take it home and read it , and if you want to keep it , keep it . If you want to bring it back , bring it back . That ’ s the premise behind it . You can also leave your books as a free donation .”
“ We through Megan , one of our instructional coaches at our district elementary , have wanted to do this for the past three years . We want to continue this in future years and provide more Free Little Libraries . We will see how it goes and how successful it is and what it ’ s going to take to bring in more . This is her project , and I ’ m just here for support . The Little Library boxes were painted by high school art students ,” said Grant Fauver , director of operations and engagement at Coshocton City Schools .
“ I was excited when they first reached out to us . When Grant called , I was immediately on board because this is something I have always wanted to do . I think reading is important for everyone , not just children , but for everyone . We are really excited as a property to have this ,” said Tara Trendley , property manager at Heritage Apartments .
Little Free Library is a 501 nonprofit organization that promotes neighborhood book exchanges , usually in the form of a public bookcase . More than 90,000 public book exchanges are registered with the organization and branded as Little Free Libraries .

The books are a combination of donated and federal funding that has allowed us to buy some new books as well . If you see a book you like , you can take it home and read it , and if you want to keep it , keep it .”
