Ridgewood talks about security
The Ridgewood Local School Board met in regular session on June 13 at the administration building .
During public participation , resident Ed Chapdelaine of West Lafayette addressed the board concerning school security . Also present were Police Chief Chris Walters and Mayor Stephen Bordenkircher . A discussion was held about hiring a resource officer for the school district . Details are to be discussed and presented at a later date .
Treasurer Jay Tingle presented routine financial items approved by the board .

— Cathy Cutshall from RMS second-shift custodian to RES second-shift custodian .
— Susie Blackstone to RMS secondshift custodian .
— Extended service to Jill Bryan , home economics , 10 days ; Jamie Davis , speech , 10 days ; Sue Davis and Logan Pyers , Vo Ag , 60 days each ; Leslie Dulgar , RMS guidance , 10 days ; Stacy Ionna , RHS guidance , 20 days ; and John Lindig , music , 10 days .
The next regular board meeting will be Thursday , June 30 at 8 a . m . at the administration building , 301 Oak St ., West Lafayette .

SUNDAY , JUNE 18 , 1972 It was announced that C . R . “ Rus ” Crown will be retiring from his positions at Shaw-Barton . Joining the firm in 1924 , he put in 48 years at the company . However , he is part of a family tradition going back more than 70 years . In 1902 his father joined the company that would become Shaw-Barton , American Art Works , as a maintenance engineer . Charlie Crown would work there for 50 years , and would be succeeded by Ralph , brother to Rus , who would hold the position till passing in 1963 . All together the family has 126 years of service with the company and its predecessor . Rus has no specific plans for his retirement and will serve out his term as treasurer of the City of Coshocton .
THURSDAY , JUNE 17 , 1982 The Coshocton County Commissioners announced plans to donate a plot of land to the construction of a housing complex . The property in question is the Sarah Hay Wilson property , 306 N . Fourth St . The property , and the 153 year old house sitting on it , was acquired in 1977 . The project is organized by the Lions Club and seeks to build 47-unit complex . It is estimated to cost 1.7 million dollars , which is itself expected to come largely from HUD fund . Charles Gallagher , an architect from Coshocton , has been hired to draw up plans while the club awaits the go ahead from HUD .
SUNDAY , JUNE 21 , 1992 Classic cars lined Main Street and old-time rock n ’ roll filled the court square as the fifth annual Fabulous 50 ’ s Cruise-In took place yesterday . Buster & The Nomads performed the music for the festival . The Coshocton School of Dance gave a performance as well . More than 200 vehicles came to the show , and while official visitor counts haven ’ t been tallied , last year ’ s event saw several thousand attend .
SUNDAY , JUNE 22 , 2002 Former Redskin Jason Ross will be East Knox High School ’ s new basketball coach . “ I had no idea they were considering me for the job . East Knox contacted me on Tuesday , I was looking to coach junior varsity a couple more years . I ’ m excited and enthusiastic about the job . I ’ m ready to go up there and work on improving their program ,” said Ross . Ross graduated from CHS in 1994 and has coached at both Ridgewood and River View high schools .
WEDNESDAY , JUNE 20 , 2012 The Kiwanis Club planted two apple trees in Lake Park in dedication to the late Jack Baumgardner . Mayor Steve Mercer dedicated the trees on June 13 . “ You obviously touch a lot of lives in the course of 94 years , and for me , Jack touched my life . I really got to know him when I was on city council . He ’ d already been on there for many years , and it was always a pleasure to serve with him and his attitude in serving council and what he did . How he looked at what he did in public service , to me , was also an inspiration , so I appreciate that ,” said Mercer . Jack , a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club , portrayed Johnny Appleseed for local schools and events for nearly 40 years .
