Boyd is the 2025 USO Coast Guardsman of the Year
Logan Boyd, the son of former Coshocton residents Don and Gina Boyd, was named the 2025 USO Coast Guardsman of the Year. He is a U. S. Coast Guard Boatswain’ s Mate 3rd Class stationed in Destin, Florida.
In fall 2024 Boyd and his teammates responded to a call to help someone who might be drowning and in need of emergency help. They located a person with what looked like a lifeless infant. Boyd started CPR and resuscitated the baby girl before handing her over to emergency medical services.
Boyd was recognize at the 2025 USO Gala in Washington, D. C. on May 29.

June is Men’ s Health Month
Hey Coshocton! It’ s your health educator Olivia Elson with the Coshocton Public Health District. Welcome to this segment of Public Health Matters. During the month of June, we observe Men’ s Health Month to encourage men to be proactive with their preventive health care.
Prostate cancer is one of four different cancers that account for 43 % of all cancer diagnosed in men. A prostate-specific antigen test is a blood test that is primarily used to screen for prostate cancer.
While the general guidelines recommend testing begin at age 55, you also may need a PSA test between the age of 40 and 54 if you have at least one first-degree relative such as your father or brother who has had prostate cancer or you have at least two extended family members who have had prostate cancer.
According to the 2021 Community Health Assessment, 48 % of Coshocton
All men need to have regular checkups and be aware of health risks for their age, ethnicity and lifestyle.
County men had a PSA test in their lifetime, and only 24 % had one in the past year.
It also has been proven heart disease is the leading cause of death among men in the U. S.
On average men develop heart disease 10 years earlier than women. Major risk factors for cardiovascular disease include smoking, obesity, high blood cholesterol, high blood pressure, physical inactivity and diabetes.
According to the 2021 Community Health Assessment, it was identified 74 % of Coshocton County men were overweight or obese, 44 % were diagnosed with high blood cholesterol, 33 % were diagnosed with high blood pressure, 17 % had been diagnosed with diabetes and 16 % of all men were current smokers.
All men need to have regular checkups and be aware of health risks for their age, ethnicity and lifestyle. By adjusting your diet, improving your fitness routine and making the time to schedule preventive care, you can potentially increase your life expectancy.

A princess tea was held at Hannah Marie’ s on June 12. Several princesses were on hand to meet everyone and pose for pictures. Many of the little girls who attended dressed as their favorite princess and were so excited to meet all the princesses.
