Special dog event underway at Clary Gardens

Gardens hosted the Dog Days of Summer to kick off Wagging Wednesdays . The bridge , waterfall and the walkway are all new within the last year as part of an expansion project .
Gardener Jessica Miskimens said , “ We are currently finishing the stone wall . Behind the wall will be a secret garden . The grand stairway is not finished yet . All of the walkways and the front will be paved . We are here bringing people into the garden to see what we have going on here . A lot of people live in Coshocton and don ’ t know that this is even here . We just want to encourage people to come out and see what we have

Kurt Garver and Thor , a 5-year-old Burmadoodle , came out to see everything Clary Gardens has to offer after seeing a special event mentioned in the Beacon . to offer . You can reconnect with nature , and it is right in your own back yard here at Clary Gardens .”
Treats from Good Boy Bakery and kiddie pools were set up for the dogs . “ We are doing this in hopes to raise money for a doggie waste station for visiting dogs . We are dog-friendly here ,” Miskimens said . “ We have paw-print painting , a kiddie pool to cool off and treat bags for the dogs . It ’ s a come , hang out , donate if you feel led to do so event .”
Brad Fuller from Good Boy Bakery makes all the treats , and they were donated to hand out .
“ So all the pups get a treat ,” said Jodi Shrimplin , head gardener and education coordinator . “ They can walk around . We have a couple pools set up . They can do a paw-print painting . This is our kick-off event to encourage people to come out on Wednesdays and walk their dogs . This is an introductory event to bring people out here , and we are raising money through donations for a waste station .”
Kurt and Carice Garver and their dog Thor , a 5-year-old Burnadoodle , came out to see everything Clary Gardens has to offer after seeing it in the Beacon . Thor is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Standard Poodle .
“ I got him from a puppy mill when he was 5 months old . They said he was free and don ’ t bring him back . So I was lucky enough to get him for free . A plus for breeding with Poodles is it makes his hair curly and he doesn ’ t shed ,” Kurt Garver said .
Melanie and Matthew Gibbs brought their dogs Sully , a 7-yearold Shih Tzu , and Riley , a year-old Golden Retriever .
“ We saw the post on the Facebook page and decided to bring our dogs out and support the gardens ,” Melanie Gibbs said .
Matthew Gibbs said , “ When we come up here , we always have to go down to the dumpsters , and we thought it would be nice to have a dog waste station here . We come out here quite a bit .”

We want people to come and share what we love . Anyone can come and bring their dogs to walk at any time . We love seeing people here .”

An event is scheduled Aug . 24 with Rust Decor and Real McCoy BBQ . There will be live music under the pavilion .

Dogs were given their own special spot to cool off .
