Teater is July artist of the month

The Tollhouse in Historic Roscoe Village announced July’ s featured artist is Michelle Teater, a local talent whose photography is on display and available for purchase throughout the month.
Teater’ s artistic journey began at the age of 15 with her first oil painting, a moment that sparked a lifelong love of creativity. Though the demands of work and family life led her to set her brushes aside for a time, that creative spark never dimmed. Picking up her paints again just last year, Teater has rediscovered her artistic voice.
“ The sky, trees, distant landscapes— I’ m always taking pictures so I can recreate what I see,” Teater said.
Her favorite subjects are landscapes, celestial scenes, and the quiet poetry found in nature’ s textures and colors. Recently, she’ s been experimenting with abstract art.“ I love the way color speaks,” she said.
While oil remains her preferred medium, practicality has nudged her toward acrylics, and she looks forward to exploring watercolors in the future. Her creative influences include Bob Ross.
By day Teater works as an accounting clerk. She’ s an active member of the

Coshocton Art Guild and credits the group with rekindling her confidence and reminding her of the joy that comes from community support and shared creativity.
“ The guild welcomes all artists, no matter the style or medium. It’ s been such a blessing to be part of this beautiful

Entries needed for the big tree contest

Entries for the annual big tree contest are now being taken by the Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation District.
The contest is open to all species of trees growing on privately owned property in Coshocton County. Property line trees and trees growing on federal, state or local government-owned land are not eligible. Any person can enter any tree that is physically located in Coshocton County, whether or not the tree is growing on the nominator’ s property.
Two winning trees will be chosen this year. The big tree contest is countywide while the Coshocton Is Blooming category is limited to trees growing within the Coshocton city limits. Coshocton SWCD encourages you to submit as many entries as you like for you or your neighbors. Entries will be measured by a representative from Coshocton SWCD using the national standardized measurement criteria.
The owners of the winning big trees will each receive a plaque and two tickets to Coshocton SWCD’ s annual meeting and banquet on Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Lake Park Pavilion. Call the SWCD at 740-622-8087 ext. 4, visit www. coshoctonswcd. org or stop by the office in room 120 of the County Services Building on Seventh Street for an entry form. All entries must be received by 4:30 p. m. on Friday, Aug. 29.
