Earn college credit in half the time at COTC
There ’ s still time to enroll at Central Ohio Technical College this spring . Registration is open for the college ’ s second-term accelerated courses , which start Monday , March 7 . Accelerated classes allow students to earn the same college credit as full-length semester courses in half the time .
The popular accelerated class format allows students who did not enroll in January to get back on track or start their degree immediately without waiting . Students with responsibilities like a job or family find accelerated courses help them better fit college into their busy lives . Students returning to college after a long absence can try out college courses
without a full-semester commitment .
Many offerings are general education classes that can count toward an associate degree at COTC or transfer to any public college or university in the state of Ohio . Courses are offered in multiple delivery methods .
Second-term accelerated courses begin on March 7 . COTC ’ s free application for admission is due Monday , Feb . 28 , and the last day to register for classes is March 7 . These courses are financial aid eligible for students enrolled in a degree pathway at COTC . To be considered for financial aid , students must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid ( FAFSA ) at studentaid . ed . gov . Ridgewood ’ s Gress set to play at Muskingum

Karissa Gress plans to continue her volleyball career at Muskingum University this fall . The Ridgewood High School senior signed her letter of intent on Feb . 14 in the school ’ s media center .
“ I like that Muskingum is close to home and that they have a really good volleyball
program ,” Gress said . “ I really wanted to continue playing volleyball because I love the game .”
In addition to playing at Ridgewood , Gress also plays on two JO volleyball teams . She is very appreciative of her coaches , Susan Jackson , Mee Ok Won and Jennifer Bickel , who she also trained with for five years .

determined to get better ,” Gress said . “ I loved it enough , though , to want to keep going . I had great coaches , teammates and support from my family over the years .”
Gress plans to major in Spanish at Muskingum and hopes to become a translator . She encouraged her younger teammates who also might want to play in college to keep a positive attitude .
“ Keep working hard because it will really help you get where you want to be ,” Gress said .
Gress is the daughter of Kari and Lincoln Humphrey .
