SUNDAY , FEB . 20 , 1972 The Freedoms Foundation has announced the recipients of its 1971 awards , and a county airman is amongst the recipients . Sgt . Tim A . Vance will be receiving the George Washington Honor Medal in the Armed Forces Letter category for his “ What is an American ?” letter . Sgt . Vance is currently stationed at the Air Force Academy in Colorado , and he is from Route 2 here in Coshocton . SATURDAY , FEB . 20 , 1982 The Black Bears are now the Muskingum Valley League champs , and they walk away with a season record of 19-1 . Their final opponents of the season were the Tornadoes from West Muskingum , whom they beat 93-77 . Not only did the varsity team grab the crown , but the JV team managed an untouched season , beating West Muskingum 74- 35 . Greg Vickers led the Black Bears in scoring with 14 and was followed by Tim Beck and Jeff Wilson with 13 . Bill Daugherty , Troy McCollister and Mark Nelson all put in 12 , and Craig Allen rounded the team out with 11 . FRIDAY , FEB . 21 , 1992 Lorle Porter will have an article on the history of Coshocton and Roscoe featured in the March issue of Ohio Magazine . “ Tale of Two Other Cities ” covers the relationship between Coshocton and the village , and the shared culture between the two . Porter previously wrote a book , “ Roscoe : Generations , Regenerations ,” which brought her to the attention of the magazine . “ I ’ m absolutely fascinated with what makes small towns tick ,” Porter said at a luncheon celebrating the release of the article , which was held Thursday . FRIDAY , FEB . 22 , 2002 Tractor Supply Co . has announced it will be coming to the Downtowner Plaza this coming April . Moving in where Quality Farm & Fleet was previously located , the store is the most recent in a number of acquisitions by the Nashville based company . Quality closed in November of last year , and since then the storefront has been in the caretaking of Ed Downey , manager of the location . “ I think it ’ s wonderful . We were real hopeful someone would move in . It ’ ll be really good for local competition , keeping people in town to shop . During lawn and garden season , people will go from one store to another to compare products ,” said Mike White , who owns the Sears store located a few stores down .
