Technical Assistance
Technical assistance is provided through a Memorandum of Understanding with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service . Working agreements with other federal , state , and local agencies allow the CSWCD to accomplish our conservation goals . One-on-one technical assistance is the backbone of the CSWCD program . We work with our partners to install conservation practices to address soil erosion , compaction , nutrient runoff and water quality , as well as animal health and comfort . CSWCD technicians also coordinated the Cover Crop Program in 2024 . The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District provides cost share funds to interested producers and the program is administered by the Ohio Department of Agriculture . CSWCD staff assisted 37 landowners that seeded 4,741.72 acres of cover crops . The purpose of this program is to plant vegetation to provide a growing cover over the winter months to minimize soil erosion , increase soil organic matter , improve water infiltration , and improve water quality .
