RV students staging‘ Hello! My Baby’

By Josie Sellers Beacon Editor
“ Hello! My Baby,” presented by the River View High School Department of Music, will take you back to the early 1900s in New York, at 7 p. m. Friday and Saturday, April 25-26 in the auditorium.
Mickey McKee, played by junior Brody Johnson, is a song plugger, who wants to become known for his own music work.
“ He wants to be the next big song writer, but he can’ t write music,” Johnson said.
McKee meets Betty Gold, a young Jewish seamstress who loses her job.
“ I write music for him, but since girls can’ t be pluggers I decide to play dress up and become a guy,” said Lanie Nickerson, a senior who will play Betty.
As Buddy O’ Reilly, Nickerson is eventually able to steal McKee’ s job as a plugger.
“‘ Hello! My Baby’ is so comical,” Nickerson said.“ A lot of times I’ m not sure

Dawn Anglin helped students practice their songs for“ Hello! My Baby,” the production of the River View High School Department of Music that will take the stage April 25-26 in the school’ s auditorium.
I’ m going to be able to keep a straight face when I’ m on stage.”
In addition to their story line, you also have Junior Tierney’ s. He is played by senior Dalyn Lemon. The character comes from a wealthy family is a graduate of Yale. Lemon’ s character falls in love with Francis Gold, who comes from the wrong side of the tracks.
“ I like that you get to become a whole different person in a play,” Lemon said.“ I’ ve learned many things from being in them. I can switch a whole outfit in 10 seconds, learned about acting, stage management, and can dance now. It’ s fun.”
Kynsingten McMasters plays Lemon’ s sister Alice, who is hoping to make Buddy her boyfriend.
“ Plays are a great outlet for me,” McMasters said.“ I like getting to take on a different persona.”
She encourages people to come check out what they’ ve been working on.
“ There is a lot of quick wit humor and nods to history,” McMasters said.
Tickets for“ Hello! My Baby” are $ 8 and available online at rvmusicboxoffice. com.
