The Ridgewood Middle School Beyond The Bell Drama Club has been working hard to bring“ Beauty and the Beast Jr.” to the stage.
The fourth through seventh graders will perform at 7 p. m. Friday and Saturday, April 25-26 in the auditorium at Ridgewood High

School. The show is free, but donations are welcome.
“‘ Beauty and the Beast’ is popular with adults and kids and has a lot of great music,” said Alex Mullen, who leads the drama club.“ The junior version is faithful to the movie too. I like watching the students fall in love with theater. This is a good confidence builder.”

“ A lot of folks have helped out with making this happen,” Mullen said.“ The administration at Ridgewood has always been supportive of the performing arts.”
Seventh grader Ethan Crawford plays the Beast.
“ I’ ve been in plays before,” he said.“ I like that I get to spend more time with

my friends and to learn to act, sing, and dance. This is going to be a fun play. The cast sounds amazing.”
Sixth grader Zoey Sheaffer is one of the narrators.
“ Plays are fun, and I get to make new friends,” she said.“ Everyone has been working really hard here and it’ s going to be a good play.”
Addie Lahna has a couple jobs in the play including

being a narrator.
“ I like that I get to meet new people,” said the fourth grader.“ I’ d do it again even though I’ m a little nervous.”
Sixth grader Natalie Tyler said she has been in plays before.
“ This is a pretty popular show and I’ m excited to do it,” she said.
Mullen is proud of the work the students have put

into the play.
“ Adults may run it, but this is the kids show,” he said.“ In the end it’ s all their work you see.
“ Any donations we receive will help us keep the drama club going in the future. We are grant funded right now, but if that goes away, we want to make sure we can still buy shows and build sets.”
