The 37th annual Edward E. Montgomery Jr. Piano Competition was held April 6.
Hayes wins piano competition
On April 6, performing before a capacity crowd in the Ivy Room at the Roscoe Village Foundation Visitor Center, Jensen Hayes was crowned the winner of the 37 th annual Edward E. Montgomery Jr. Piano Competition Junior Division. For his accomplishment he was awarded a $ 250 cash prize from The Montgomery Foundation.
His musical selection of Russian Dance, Op. 39, No. 24 by composer Hugo Reinhold was judged to be the best by a panel of four adjudicators representing local school districts as well as the collegiate community.

Jensen is the son of Melissa and Biff Hayes and a seventh grade student at Newcomerstown Middle School. He has studied piano for seven years under the instruction of Bev Darr-Bouscher.
The 2026 competition date has been set for Sunday, April 12.
