Second-year student, Kieu-My Nguyen, was elected as Secretary of the Student AOAO at the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics (AOAO) Conference in Louisville, KY. This is the national executive board that oversees all of the various chapters at each school.
Student Doctor Nguyen's responsibilities include working with the President to come up with meeting agendas, taking notes at the executive board meetings, and helping with miscellaneous tasks such as updating the website, conference planning, posting on social media, and helping with other planned initiatives.
Student Doctor Nguyen hopes to bring UNE COM's collaborative nature to the E-Board and connect SAOAO chapters across the nation with each other to build a stronger network for those interested in orthopedics.

Tom O’Mara, COM ‘24 Publishes in Clinical and Experimental Emergency Medicine
Second-year student, Tom O’Mara, recently published, “Can a low-cost exercise monitor provide useful heart rate monitoring for use in low-resource emergency departments?”
The research was published to Clinical and Experimental Emergency Medicine (CEEM) journal and compared using a low cost exercise heart rate monitor in an emergency department setting to standard telemetry. Learn more.
