Four UNE COM alumni recently had an article titled “Shot in the dark: three patients successfully treated with onabotulinumtoxin A injections for relief of post-traumatic chronic headaches and dystonia induced by gunshot wounds” published in BMJ Case Reports.

The study conducted by Ruslan Abdukalikov, DO ’18, Lauren Palitz Ferguson, DO ’20, David Shbeeb, DO ’20 and Terence K Gray DO ‘00, explores how three patients were successfully treated with onabotulinumtoxin A injections for relief of post-traumatic chronic headaches and dystonia induced by gunshot wounds.

The patients, ranging from 49 to 61 years-old, were presented to their pain clinic after failing multiple treatment attempts for debilitating pain following wounds to the head, neck and face.
