ALUMNA TEAMS UP TO CREATE NEW ANTIMICROBIAL GLOVES

Alyssa (Mixon) Cole, DO ’16, a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician specializing in cancer rehabilitation in Philadelphia, was featured on NBC along with her colleague, Dr. Wangtrakuldee.

“As a physician working amidst this pandemic, I wanted to extend my health outreach beyond the hospital doors,” she says. “I teamed up with a Philadelphia-based protective apparel company AmorSui to create the Alice Hamilton antimicrobial gloves that help protect against bacteria, fungi, and direct contact with viruses including the one that causes COVID19.

“UNE COM taught me IATP – ‘It’s About The Patient.’ I could not imagine any time where this mantra is more important than right now as we battle COVID19. Thank you for instilling this in me during my medical schooling!”
