“DO THESE SCRUBS MAKE ME LOOK LIKE A DOCTOR?”
Alumna, Jessica Urso, DO ’19, is a resident physician in the combined Internal Medicine-Pediatrics program at UMMS-Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Her article, “Do these scrubs make me look like a doctor?” discusses the ever-mounting biases that exist around female physicians, and the continued struggle to defend the integrity and validity of the osteopathic profession.

Alumna, Shalini Shah, DO '17, published an article, "Physician, Activist — Does One Preclude the Other?" examining the intersectionality between one's role as a physician and the countless others that define our humanity. As such, she asks her fellow physicians to "Take a stand... We must all be activists, channeling the energy for which we advocate for our patients in health care settings into the political and advocacy arena."
Dr. Shah is a pediatric attending at Boston Children’s Hospital and is a staunch advocate for environmental health and health equity.
