The Only Constant is Change
Hiranur REŞİTOĞLU ‣
Heraclitus defended the idea that“ the only constant is change.” According to him, time is fluid, and even the person you were one second ago is no longer the same. This shows an important question: is there anything that doesn’ t change? In my opinion, the universe is in constant motion. Change does not always mean a complete transformation; sometimes even resting after exhaustion is a form of change.
I once believed Parmenides’ idea that nothing in the universe changes. The fact that I no longer advocate for this point of view is itself a change too. Change exists, and perhaps the greatest change is realizing that you yourself have changed.

When I was younger, I struggled to make friends and believed this would never change. However, in 8th grade, I became more outgoing and formed many friendships. This experience taught me that no matter how long it takes, change and the hope brought by change is true.
Technology also plays a role in change, especially in communication. Some people say that it makes people antisocial, while others believe it turns us into machines. Although I respect these views, I disagree. For introvert individuals who struggle with face-to-face communication, technology can provide a safer space to express themselves. Over time, this can even build confidence in real-life interactions.
Change is not only personal but also social. In the past, many traditions were accepted that would now be considered unacceptable. For example, women were once forced into marriage without consent, which was not seen as a crime. Today, due to social progress, such acts are both illegal and morally rejected.
