In recent years, the education system has undergone a significant transformation due to advancements in technology and global events. A pivotal moment in this evolution was the COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitated the temporary closure of schools and universities. Consequently, traditional classroom education transitioned abruptly to online platforms. Lessons commenced via video conferencing applications, assignments were submitted electronically, and examinations were conducted online. Both educators and students were required to swiftly adapt to this unforeseen change. This scenario raises a crucial question: How has this shift in education impacted individuals, particularly students like myself?
In my view, the digitalization of education has introduced both benefits and drawbacks. On the positive side, access to information has become significantly more convenient than in the past. Students are no longer confined to textbooks; they can utilize online articles, educational videos, and interactive learning platforms to enhance their comprehension. This diverse array of resources accommodates various learning styles and facilitates the review of challenging subjects. Moreover, online education provides flexibility. By eliminating the need to commute to school, students can manage their time more effectively and often concentrate better in a comfortable home setting.
Conversely, this system also presents several disadvantages. Spending extended periods in front of a screen can be both physically and mentally taxing. It may lead to eye strain, diminished focus, and reduced motivation. Furthermore, the decline in face-to-face communication has adversely impacted social interaction. School serves not only as a venue for acquiring academic knowledge but also as a social environment where students forge friendships, cultivate communication skills, and learn teamwork. During online education, I occasionally felt isolated from my peers and less engaged in the lessons.
On a personal level, this transformation has fostered greater independence and responsibility in me. I have learned how to organize my own study routines effectively.
