Is AI a Threat to Us?

Sinefin TEKİN

We all know the world is now a very different place compared to five years ago, which is actually a very short amount of time. Among the evolving technologies, the most interesting one is AI, without a doubt. Probably because it’ s intriguing to hear about self-thinking robots, like in sci-fi movies. I think, science fiction in the film or book industry is mostly a reflection of humanity’ s fear of losing control over their creations. Since humans are inherently greedy, once they have power, they feel like they can do anything with it. But when the power is out of their hands, they panic. country. Someone could then step in and“ resolve” the conflict, making them a hero in everyone’ s eyes. In this way, the person can gain public support, making their future plans easier to execute. So, isn’ t it sometimes a threat?
At the start of those sci-fi movies, we see robots doing everything that people were doing before technology evolved so much. This brings us to the problem of“ job displacement.” For example, AI’ s image generation ability is pushing artists to the background, because people don’ t want to wait for an artist to finish their request or pay them. So, they take the easy route: the AI-generated images. It’ s easy and cheap, but how it works is basically by gathering real artists’ works, analyzing them, and then creating something relevant. It doesn’ t seem very fair to the artists, does it?
Another example of the threats AI-driven technologies may cause is“ manipulation and misinformation”. I mean, AI can be used to create realistic but false content, leading to the spread of misinformation. This can be used to manipulate public opinion about a particular group of people, which may lead to unwanted tension and even internal conflict in a
