Start by making sure you have everything you
need – the cone, serving plate, toothpicks,
decorative paper, tape, royal icing and macarons.
Insert your toothpick at a 45 degree angle. The
length that you will need to insert it into the cone
will depend on the thickness of the macaron and
it’s filling – you need it to pierce the filling but
obviously you don’t want it to come through the
front of the macaron.
It may take a few failed attempts before you have
this mastered (this is where it’s important to have
those extra macarons).

Choose your covering for your cone.
Cover your styrofoam cone with your chosen
paper and adhere with tape.
Gently push your macaron onto the toothpick until
it’s flush with the cone. I prefer to attach my first
row before I have attached the cone to the cake
plate as I find it gives me a better view to attach the
macarons level with the base of the cone.
Attach your cone to your serving plate with your
royal icing and then continue building your tower,
macaron by macaron.
