Macaron Tower

Materials
-A Styrofoam cone
The cone is the base of your
structure. Make sure that the
bottom of the cone is flat so that it
sits flush with your plate or stand
and that it has a wide enough base
that it will support the weight of the
macarons and embellishments.
-A cake stand or plate
Choose a strong, level cake plate
that matches your theme and
colours and can also be moved
easily from one location to the next.
-Decorative Paper and tape
This is used to cover the cone before
you start so that the macarons
don’t come into contact with the
styrofoam. You could use kraft
paper, scrapbooking paper, tissue
paper – anything that you have
handy. Keep in mind that whatever
paper you use will be on show once
your guests have removed the
macarons from the tower.
-Royal icing
This is perfect for attaching your
styrofoam cone to your cake plate
and can also be used to cover the
Styrofoam cone if you would prefer to
use it instead of paper (I use a simple
Royal icing mix from the grocery store).
-Toothpicks
They are used for attaching the
macarons to the cone.
-Macarons
The number required will depend on
the size of your cone and the size of
the macarons. Always remember
you will need more than you think
- macarons are fragile by nature so
don’t be alarmed if you break a few
(it just gives you a chance to taste
test!)
-Decorations (Optional)
You can leave your tower as it is or
you can embellish it with a variety
of materials – fresh or fondant
flowers for example.
