Time for embellishments!
Attach a big red bow. Burt is
starting to look festive.
Stick on a strip of green fondant
in front of Burt’s ears and attach
the antlers. Stick strips of red
fondant on his back feet and
use toothpick to make tinsellike texture.
At this point, you can stop and not paint
Burt if you don’t like painting. Just don’t
forget to add a tail like I did! But if you’re
adventurous, grab a very find paintbrush.
I used a size 0000.

To paint the eyes, start by painting the irises bronze sheen.
The bronze will give the eyes a sparkling effect. Then,
carefully outline the edges of the irises and white of the
eyes with black paint. To blend, the colours together, dip
your paintbrush into some water and use the water to
swirl the dark and light colours together. As you can see in
this close-up pic, I applied watercolour techniques to paint
Burt. I applied the shadows with a dark brown and dipped
my paintbrush in water to spread the dark brown to the
other areas. I used different sized paintbrushes depending
on the area. Basically it’s sizes 000 and 0000 for the eyes,
size 0 for the face and size 6 for the larger body areas
