Make 2 tiny balls from white
fondant for the eyeballs and
insert them into the eye sockets.
Then make 2 smaller balls from
brown fondant and position them
on the eyeballs. Basset Hounds
have droopy eyes so position the
irises towards the top of the eyes.
Make 2 teardrops from brown
fondant.
Form a disc from black fondant
for the nose. Also, make a
vertical slit for the mouth.
Flatten the teardrops with your
fingers. These will be Burt’s
floppy ears. There’s no need to
use a rolling pin because it will
make them too thin.
Attach the nose on the tip of the
muzzle.
Attach the ears and shape them
to look like they’ve just flopped
on the floor.
Roll out dark coloured fondant
quite thickly and cut out antlers.
I basically cut a circle with a
cookie cutter, and then sliced it
in half, then make V-shape cuts.
Insert toothpicks and leave to
dry.
