About the Author
My name is Lauren Shakespeare and I am the proud owner of Shakespeare’ s Cakesphere in Canberra.
I had always been a creative person right throughout school and made some of my art teachers very sad when I told them I didn’ t have plans to pursue art into the future, however it would seem that my fate eventually caught up with me. I rolled out my first ever piece of fondant in September 2011 at the age of 23 with a plan to make my nephew a cake for his 3rd birthday.
As traumatic of an experience your first cake can be, the look of sheer joy on his face when he saw it was worth every second. From there I was hooked and launched Shakespeare’ s Cakesphere in February 2013 and haven’ t looked back since. I love everything about cakes, I have met some amazing people and made some even better friends along the way that have given me so much support. I’ ve laughed cried and thrown some pretty spectacular tantrums over cakes but can truly say I was made for this.
Christmas to me means spending time with the ones I love and eating stupid amounts of food and eventually all retiring to the couch to spend the rest of the afternoon in a food coma. My favorite Christmas tradition is cracking the bon bons and fetching out the oh so trendy paper hat, then continuing to rummage about all the other random loot to find the dad joke that’ s stashed away in there. I’ m a sucker for dad jokes and secretly get disappointed when its a joke that you get a little giggle out of for reasons other than how bad the joke was.
