any Charbonneau resi-
dents enjoy exercising
their dogs at the Edith
Green Park, located in
Country Club Estates. Dog lovers of-
ten meet at the park to socialize
while allowing their dogs to run off-
leash for exercise, with the added
benefit of a little canine socialization
as well. The Board of Directors re-
cently reviewed Off-Leash Dog Ar-
eas (OLDA) in the Portland area, and
a plan has been approved to desig-
nate the park in a similar fashion.
Beginning in October, residents will
see signage posted at the park, explain-
ing the “rules and regs” for dogs and
their owners alike. The purpose of the
designation is to ensure that the off-
leash area is a safe place for dogs and
their human companions to gather,
and to also assure that dog owners
take full responsibility for any conflict
between other dogs, whether on or off
the leash. When off-leash, owners will
keep their dog in control through voice

command and are legally responsible
for their dog(s) behavior at all times.
The park will continue to be avail-
able to all residents and their guests. If
the park is being used for basketball,
baseball, or other sporting activity, the
dog owners will defer to the activity to
assure safety and enjoyment for all us-
ers. Designating the Edith Green Park
as an OLDA now allows dogs and resi-
dents to co-exist in a variety of activi-
ties. If you have any questions, please
do not hesitate to contact the Country
Club office.

uring Charbonneau’s
Country Club’s Communi-
ty Information Day at the
end of August, about 40
community groups crowded the
clubhouse to provide community
members with information about
the various groups and organiza-
tions available to Charbonneau
residents. About 200 people came
to learn about what’s happening in
their community. Residents also
participated in a raffle, enjoyed
goodies and received information
at the different booths.
