Solo Sisters
By CANDY FERGUSON
Is Solo Sisters the
place for you?
Solo Sisters is a singles group
made up of Charbonneau women
interested in meeting other Char-
bonneau women and forming new
friendships. We welcome new res-
idents and newly widowed or di-
vorced women who have diversi-
fied interests and are looking for
someone to share them with.
Our group is known for being a
lot of fun and having a good time.
Each month we visit a local restau-
rant to enjoy Happy Hour. Our res-
taurant in July was the Wild Hare
in Canby and I don’t think any of us
had heard of it or been there prior
to our visit, but now it seems to be
a favorite of our group and we will
be sure to return soon. In August
we went to Manzana’s in Lake
Oswego and while there, several
members took advantage of enjoy-
ing the nearby shopping. Our
September gathering will be a little
different. Instead of going to a res-
taurant for Happy Hour, we will en-
joy Wine Tasting on the patio of the
Charbonneau Country Club and
will eat from a delicious spread
hosted by the Solo Sisters Planning
Committee.
I hope you had a chance to stop
by our table at the Community In-
formation Day event held in August
at the club. We were lucky enough
to pick up a few new members and
look forward to seeing them at our
events. Many curious men were al-
so drawn to our table when they
saw a bowling pin set up on it, but
that was just there to represent one
of the many activities enjoyed by
our group.
We are of course, all about eating
and drinking. Lissa Willis continues
to offer to take members to Portland
restaurants on her Solo Sisters
Lunch Safaris. In August, eight of us
enjoyed a delicious lunch on a roof-
top restaurant in East Portland. It
was called Altabira City Tavern and
was located in the Lloyd District, a
place I had never heard of so I
learned something new. In Septem-
ber those who go on the lunch safari
will be going to The Chart House.
The current leadership took over
running Charbonneau Singles a
year ago, and it has taken time to
solidify the membership and expand
the program. But with over 45 mem-
bers dedicated to seeing Solo Sisters
succeed, we plan on growing and
getting better, and being around for
a very long time. Please consider
joining us!

Oct. 25-27:
WilsonvilleSTAGE presents
Sylvia at CCC
WilsonvilleSTAGE is pleased to announce the upcoming performances of the
play “SYLVIA,” written by A.R. Gurney, and directed by Aaron Morrow.
Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after twenty-two years of child-raising in
the suburbs. Greg’s career as a fi nancial trader is winding down, while Kate’s career,
as a public-school English teacher, is beginning to offer her more opportunities.
Greg brings home a dog he found in the park - or that has found him - bearing
only the name “Sylvia” on her name tag. A street-smart mixture of Lab and poodle,
Sylvia becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife. She
offers Greg an escape from the frustrations of his job and the unknowns of middle
age. To Kate, Sylvia becomes a rival for affection. And Sylvia thinks Kate just
doesn’t understand the relationship between man and dog. The marriage is put in
serious jeopardy until, after a series of hilarious and touching complications, Greg
and Kate learn to compromise, and Sylvia becomes a valued part of their lives.
