10 THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER
Charbonneau
Men’s Club
By JOHN MCLAIN
Golf is growing in
Charbonneau
Golf is like the game of living;
it will show up what you are;
If you take your troubles badly
you will never play to par.
You may be a fine performer
when your skies are bright and blue
But disaster is the acid
that shall prove the worth of you;
So just meet your disappointments
with a cheery sort of grin,
For the golfer who keeps their tem-
per
is the golfer that’s sure to win.

spectful club attracts

our total membership at a healthy
level.

■ A members directory was again
printed and distributed at the begin-
ning of the season in April. Feedback
from members is that this is an impor-
tant document produced by the Board
to help members network and make
plans for playing golf. All of the directo-
ry information is updated regularly on
the website.
■ The ongoing development of web-
site and email continued to improve
the information services to our mem-
bers. Work started in 2017-2018 was
initially by Paul Newman and Mike Lu-
cich, and more recently in 2018-2019 by
John McLain. The quick turnaround
for game day scores this past year was
the result of Bill Moir and his team of
scorekeepers, backed up by Mike Lu-

bers continue to improve the support
for 9-hole events; giving all our mem-
bers a choice for playing 9 or 18. There
are 44% of members who indicated a
preference that includes playing in
9-hole events:
— 21% of our club members who prefer 9
holes only
— 23% prefer 9 or 18
— 56% prefer 18 holes only
■ The invitational tournament was
considered a success under the leader-
ship of Mike Brown, Denny Barton and
John Meyers, who managed teams of
volunteers, along with the assistance
of the CWGA army of volunteers in
their bright red shirts. Chris Bensel
and his staff are to be commended for
their incredible expertise in running a
nearly flawless event. The CWGA
committee, under the leadership of Jan
Landis and Kathy Harp, provided a
