THE CHARBONNEAU VILLAGER 21 December 2019 Sunshine Service By JOAN VEDDER Volunteers revamp, organizes closet Well assum- ing you’ve all survived Thanksgiving, it’s only a few weeks away from Christ- mas now! Fol- VEDDER lowing that, it will be a whole New Year......2020. I like the sound of that! The “Sunshine Service” closet got a nice new look recently. I re- moved just about everything that wasn’t glued down, cleaned, rugs, cobwebs, etc. There’s a lovely new 6 foot high shelving unit that’s been installed where we can now stow all toilet items! So much easier to reach for something instead of having to “dig” for it. Our crew will appreci- ate the change. At Solo Sisters we want to keep anxiety and loneliness at bay. It is our hope that if you are a single woman in Charbon- neau and are not a member of our organization, that you will contact us so we can reach out to you. chairs, walkers, among other items, have been rearranged to make selections easier for both us (the volunteers) and you (the cli- ent). During this process, I am al- so renumbering all items starting with a number that makes sense like No. 1. We had so many things with crazy numbering that it was hard to do inventory. So if you currently have an item, when it is returned we will assign it a new number! Speaking of which, please re- member to return things in a timely manner. Making phone calls and tracking people down is an extra job that I don’t need right now. Also something to re- mind you all, we will accept some donations that you need to get rid of, such as shower benches, walk- ers, etc. but we cannot take com- modes! We have plenty and they are very hard to give away, be- lieve me. It seems like they would have great use by many people, but no agency will take them. Per- haps it’s the “sanitation” part of it? We’re also grateful for small monetary donations that allow us to purchase new equipment when necessary. We wish you a very happy, healthy, holiday season. In December, rather than going to a local restaurant for our monthly happy hour, we will hold a holiday party at the Charbon- neau Country Club. The room is always so beautifully decorated by the club and we generally have our best turn out of the year at this event. This year’s party will be held on Wednesday the 18th, and it will be a dinner hosted by the planning committee. It is not too late to become a Solo Sister and join us at our holiday party! Please contact Deanna Morgan, our membership chairman at [email protected] and she will be happy to tell you more about Solo Sisters. Happy Holidays to all! CONSTANCE S.
