GOING GREEN Casterley Barn on ‘Going Green’ Casterley Barn in Rushall, near Pewsey, prides itself on its green focus with sustainability at the heart of the corporate events venue. Here the team give us their top tips for creating a sustainable event. Choose A Green Venue Possibly the biggest carbon footprint contribution to your event is your venue, therefore it should be one of biggest considerations in planning your event. Does the venue use green energy for its power sources? What is the recycling policy? Casterley Barn is an off-grid venue, our electricity is powered by solar panels, the heating is run from a biomass system and all of our water comes from a well on the farm. Materials Why not go digital? From sending invites to sharing your agenda or presentations by email ahead of the event we can all cut down on the amount of paper we use. Not only does this save the trees and protects animals’ habitats but it contributes towards the zero to waste landfill objective. If you must use paper then using recycled materials for your collateral is the way forward. CO R P O R AT E E V EN T S Bespoke team building, product launch, conferences, away days & party packages available. Close to the M4 & rail links to London & the South West . Catering Choose a caterer that supports local producers and go organic. Serving food that is cultivated organically without manufactured chemicals will provide your event with great sustainability credentials. Research has also shown that meat is a large contributor to greenhouse gases, so why not opt for a vegetarian or vegan menu. With so many delicious choices now available who would not love a scrumptious but sustainable spread? Support Local From your caterer to AV equipment use local suppliers. By doing this your event will be supporting the local community. Using local suppliers also reduces travel distances, helping to lower your carbon footprint.
