ACTIVITIES FOR SHARING Card #12 Famous structure [WRITING, SPEAKING] Grade No. students No. Lessons Lesson Description 2th (13-14 years) Subject TECHNOLOGY 30 Unit Structures 1 (50 min)  In previous lessons, students are made a Powerpoint project about a famous structure.  Now, students should make a poster in a cardboard with all the information that they found it: Name of the structure, location, architect, forces involved, materials, type of structure, main information and curiosities.  Students will make a presentation to their class mates.  Finally, we make an exhibition with all poster in the High School hall or corridor. So they share their work with everybody. Learn about structures around the world. Learn about materials, types of forces and types of structures. a) Take lot of information about a Famous Structure and try to sum up and prepare a writing and a speaking while their class mates listen to others and then, they ask and answer questions. b) Work in pa irs and practice reading, writing, listening and speaking in English. Medium Complexity Steps 1 In previous lessons, teacher explained about structures: types of efforts, type of structures, materials… 2 In previous lessons, students have found information about a famous structure (they work in pairs). 3 In this lesson, teacher explain with an example how to do a poster with their information: Tittle, type of letter, pictures, etc. 4 Students work in pairs. 5 Teacher help them if it is necessary. 6 Students make a presentation of their poster to their mates. 7 Finally, students make an exhibition of their projects in the hall or corridor of the High School. Strengths Students develop their reading comprehension. Students develop their writing in pairs. Students also improve their speaking (making presentations and asking questions) They also improve their listening. Weaknesses It really difficult to control if students are interacting in English or in their mother tongue. Some students may need more time to assimilate the text and write. Introverted student do not participate. 13
