TRANSPORT

Road transport is a quick, easy and cheap method of distributing products. The lorries and carriers are quick to get from place to place due to the fact they have many different possible routes to take. In addition to this, using road transportation makes it extremely easy to track where the vehicles are, which is also helpful to the consumer when waiting to receive their product. Above all, the cost it takes to use road travel is extremely cheap compared to larger methods such as by plane, ship or train, as they lorries/vans are at a much smaller size and can deliver specific things, such as orders from shops or websites. However, the cost it takes to pay each individual driver may take over the fact that it’s cost effective in the long term. A major threat to distributing products by road is the risk of hazardous weather conditions leading to delays, or on some occasion causing an accident on the road harming the driver. Whereas the use of plane transportation makes there less danger of having any accidents at all.

Although transport varies on the product being distributed, most of the different legistics depend on eachother to get from A to B, in a quick and effective way, but what is really the BEST way...

But is there a method of distribution without any of these dilemmas?Traffic isn't a problem for distribution by plane, however the cost to do this is extremely more expensive than any other distribution method. A reason for this is because planes are the fastest method of getting from one location of the world to anotherThe use of train to distribute goods is highly common. trains are also a quick and affordable method

when transporting goods. Unfortunately, trains are still struggling to cope with delays and finding alternative routes is an issue.

Further more, using ships to transport goods means large amounts of stock can be sent in one go, rather than by lots of lorries a day. By using this method is an easier way to control the stock and making sure everything that leaves the factory arrives at the distribution centre, also meaning stock is less likely to go missing. Shipping uses up to six times less fuel than road transport and half the amount used for rail transport. Although the amount of wild life killed every day by ships is extremely high, making it less eco-friendly than other transportation methods.

An issue with shipping is if there was ever an issue with the weather or the ship it can cause a major issue and delays, which could end up in losing products or destroying them, putting companiess at a loss of money overall.
