Background OSCIL is committed to enhancing accessibility and quality of life statewide. Founded in 1988, we have been serving the whole of Rhode Island as its only Independent Living Center for more than a decade. We provide advocacy, assistive equipment and technology, home modifications, youth services, nursing home transition, peer support groups, information and referral, and skills-training to people with disabilities so that they can live independently and fully engage in the community.
BRAG LINES OSCIL is RI’ s only disability service agency operated by people with disabilities for people with disabilities.
We serve thousands of Rhode Islanders each year with home modifications, funding for hearing aids, information and referral, assistive and smart home technology, personal care services, and more!
Last year OSCIL advocated for essential Medicaid services, hosted public sessions on state efforts to improve access and services, and provided direct services to countless Rhode Islanders.
Pay It Forward Last year OSCIL served 45,000 Rhode Islanders with disabilities by empowering them to live independently in their communities, but we’ re quickly outgrowing our current offices. With your support we aim to move into a larger, fully accessible space that allows us to expand programs like peer support, assistive technology and youth transition. Together, we can break barriers and build an inclusive community where independence thrives. Give today— your generosity changes lives!
