SECTION UPDATE Dispute Resolution Section By John F. Allgood Ford Harrison [email protected] T he Dispute Resolution Section participated in a tour of the Atlanta Center for International Arbitration and Mediation [ACIAM] at a breakfast meeting on November 11. Shelby Grubbs, Director, led a discussion of the activities planned at the Center and provided attendees with information about spaces designed for dispute resolution hearings and other resources being offered by ACIAM. Magaly Cobian, Managing Director, also answered questions about the new Center’s availability for arbitration and mediation of disputes by parties and neutrals in the Atlanta area as well as for the conduct of international arbitration cases. Shinji Morokuma, Director of the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution, and Adam M. Sutton, Chair of the Dispute Resolution section of the State Bar of Georgia. Topics at this program will include international mediation and dispute resolution and the increasing use of hybrid forms of ADR by clients and neutrals and other topics including a discussion of mediation in same-sex divorce situations. The Institute is offering a total of 6 CLE hours, including 1 Ethics Hour and 1 Professionalism Hour. The Section will resume its regular breakfast program schedule on January 6, 2016 at the Buckhead Club with a program dealing with health care ADR issues led by Wayne Thorpe. The Section does not have a program scheduled for the month of December but on December 11, 2015, Section members are invited to participate in the 22nd Annual Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute and 2015 Neutrals’ Conference sponsored by ICLE that will be held at the State Bar Headquarters, 104 Marietta Street N.W. in Atlanta. In addition to the ICLE materials for this conference, attendees may choose to receive a copy of ATLAS/ACIAM International Dispute Resolution Drafter’s Manual, published by ICLE.
