Watchko DeBaun & Associates, P.C. t he Elder Law Section will be wrapping up its year with the last breakfast meeting scheduled for May 15, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. at the Buckhead Club. Long Term Care Insurance Specialist Eric Burkard, CLTC, will be presenting on the Ins and Outs of Long Term Care Insurance. We look forward to learning more about this evolving area. It has been a busy year for the section, and we are already looking forward to kicking back into gear this fall. This year, we enjoyed speakers on topics ranging from financial planning for baby boomers, fair debt collection and seniors, law practice management, Veterans Administration Aid and Attendance benefits, lessons from a career in elder law in estate planning, Medicaid and the Department of Community Health, and most recently, the Affordable Care Act. The section also introduced a community service project, a pro bono project, and brought two sponsors aboard. We are extremely grateful for the support from our sponsors, LivHome and Assisted Living Locators, and hope that these relationships will continue long into the future. Through our community service project, we were able to help support the Be A Santa to a Senior program of Home Instead Senior Care by providing holiday gifts to a number of needy seniors in the metro Atlanta area. Also, our ongoing pro bono project has involved enlisting volunteers to help Atlanta Legal Aid's Georgia Senior Legal Hotline clients complete power of attorney and advance directive forms furnished by the Hotline.
